ENJOYING A BREAK !!!

Today is the third day on our break from south University. This is relaxing and my meliton is soothing. I can find plenty of things to do but i just want to tend to my plant buy trimming the dead leaves which if you don't will certainly draw from the live plant life. Another feat I wish to accomplish is my Cat. I really enjoy tending to my cat for which he demands so much affection.

YES!!!! FIRST DAY OF SPRING !!!!

 Well,Well,Well it is finally the first day of spring and I am so excited. There is something about spring that really makes you say Humm... Now I was born in may so therefore I am a spring baby. My fellow scholars if you get a chance take time out and smell the air, meditate in the spring aroma, and listen to nature carefully and closely perhaps it might whisper something to you.

PROTAGANIST VS. ANTAGONIST

What have we learned ? Well I can attest to the fact that this class has really helped me to improve my writing skills. The class ENG1300 is without a shadow of doubt the last English class I will partake. Untill now I thought that I was a good writer, but now I realize I'm a great writer. Imagery,Symbolism,Style, Mythology, as well as analyzing short stories and poems all have become much more clearer to me in  an abstract way. Thank you for ...

WORD TO THE WISE!!!

A word to the wise if you want a good paper, or a good grade. make sure you have APA style in order as well as let someone read it before turning it in. I can only say please dont make the same mistake I made and wait until the last minute to comprise the paper....Good luck with it!!!

TIME AFTER TIME !!!

TIME is the one element that we have no control over. They say that there three things we have no control over, DEATH, TAXES,and TIME...time is so precious and vital especially when you get my age. I used to hear the old men in my little town say steve "If I knew then what I know now. I can relate to that because time fly when you are caught up in the moment....So take heed make the most of time.....

DEAR MR. PRESIDENT !!!!!

I am so proud today.. while talking with a student here at south university who happen to be in the military said that her unit had a suprise visit from The President of the United States, who happen to be vacationing in homestead. Wow! she was excited because her unit had the chance of seeing our POTUS. She has pictures of AirForce One in which she said that there were 40 armed soldeirs, 2 F-14 Fighters, and several Marine helecopters gaurding theis air craft....She also mention that there were about 20 children that emerged from the plane assuming it was the first daughters party!!!!

VISIT TO THE VETERANS HOSPITAL

This weekend I was having some minor lower back problems due to the change in weather and of course old age. I went to the VA Med Center in west palm beach to get it checked out. I must say that it was one of the most pleasant times I had in any hospital because of the care, concern, and quick response. I am so proud that the system has changed drastically since over the last 10 years, whereas more emphasis is placed on returning veterans and familiesof the gulf and afghanistan war....I had to take these pictures while I was there...

WRITING STYLE !!!

Every author has their unique writing style, some use a lot of imagery, symbolism, dark, or even a religious connotation. It is up to the reader to pay close attention to the style and become familiar with what the tone and underlying message the author is trying to convey. I like the poems and Doc 2 is becoming more easier as I look for these things.

GOT GRATITUDE !!!!

I must say that writing these blogs and sharing different life experiences among my classmates is rejuvenating. At the same time I enjoy reading the thoughts of their daily activities as well. Some I find funny, some motivational, but most heartfelt and very sincere. This is a time to express feelings, as well as inner thoughts about what is taking place in your lives.On that being said I would like to express my Gracious, Gargantua, Goodness, God-fearing, ...GRATITUDE....

My fellow classmates as we enter the last few weeks together I   must say it has been such a great ride. I pray that we will see each other in perhaps another class, nonetheless we will see each other until then lets stay in touch we have the internet. TO CARE or NOT TO CARE: THAT IS THE QUESTION?

One can say what they will but, We must try to understand our good doctor. He is no doubt one tough cookie,but hey he only wants us to suceed. I reflect alot in my life where some people just dont give a damn about me. So when I see my classmates as well as my Professors PUSHING, ENCOURAGING, COMPLMENTING ME...IT'S ALL GOOD & I know they CARE!!!!

 In the poem to the desert there is such a tone in which one can draw man conclusions. I feel that the desert can be your freind or your enemy. In the case of the Benjamin Saenz he has an admiration for the desert while I on the hand despise the desert.I have my reasons and he has his!!!

Mothers & ladies in take heed to my words.I am so PROUD of the Mothers and the non -mothers of my composition class. you guys multitask from work, to  motherhood to family business and of course school. Trust me when i say that I grew up in the 70's and 80's and there were 13 children in my family my mother worked 2 jobs and there wasn't a father in our home nonetheless

she did an awesome job with us and to that end ..My Hats off to you ladies..HEEEYYY NOW!!!

MYTH, MAGIC,OR REALITY !!!

Mythology has always been a part of our culture for centuries. We grew up on the stories of Hecules,perseus, and greeek gods and godessess. As the book explains we are all on a journey. The  journey throughout life encompasses so many trials and tribulations.

MY BUDDY..MY FREIND..MY CAT!!!

Alot of people these days have pitbull dogs, german shepards, or doberman pinchers. I have a Cat and his name is george. He is a Russian Blue and I love playing with  him. animals know when you are sad or going through thus they are there for your emotional support. Aside from roaming from room to room george likes to be brushed and take over the furniture...especially my bed even though there are two beds in the house he still insist on the one im in. NOW thats my Boy!!!!

A MOTHER'S LOVE

We live in a society where so much love is present, but so little is given. I read an article the other day where a mother left her child in a  parked car then went into walmart. A shopper saw this and called law enforcement. the lady was charged with reckless negligence. This negligence is intolerable. I was watching this mother duck for 10 min and her chickies waddled right behind her and she damn made sure of that... That is a mothers love.. 

TRIUMPH, VICTORY,PERSERVERANCE !!!!

In our lives we come across many hinderances,and obstacles. How we get through them define who we are as a person. It had never been easy for my family,but I never waviered nor did I quit. Instead I went against the grain buckled down and weathered the storm. So my fellow scholars when life seems it going into a spiral Stop compose yourself and grab life by the horns......

SOMETHING IS" FISHY"

IN poem the "FISH" by Elizabeth Bishop she uses a great deal of imagery and symbolism to convey how in life we are just beat down yet, through wisdom, and overcoming obsacles in our life triumph prevails. Bishop actually takes me there on that fishing trip, I really felt as though i was in that boat with the fisherman and in essence can equate some of my many upheaval moments and triumphs to that of the narrator and the fish. There was something fishy about the symbolic meaning of the fish hooks left in the mouth of the fish. Bishop symbolizes them with medals or trophies that the fish endured throughout its endevors. This was no fish tale but an intriguing poem!!!!!! 

IMAGINE USING IMAGERY & SYMBOLISM

JOHN Lennon Once wrote the song Imagine. The lyrics are so astounding, and moving in that he uses a lot of Imagery to convey his message. Imagery helps us develop and form  a descriptive image of what the author is projecting. the vivid pictures of what is at stake almost puts us right there as if we are experiencing the Totalality of it all.So my fellow scholars the next time you read a poem or short story try to Imagine and just let yourself be absorbed in the moment. 

I WILL NOT GIVE UP !!

I will not give up on my document paper. I think the problem we ran into was a simple miscommunication in that the ideas were separate. and not on the same page. It is both frustrating and tideous not knowing what is  expected in a document, therefore I have taken every precaution to sit down with the professor and examine the logistics of writing a great document. I will never Give UP !!!

"VOICE" OF COMMAND

Voice is an intricate part of literature. It can be the narrator or a person in thestory such as a character. None the less voice is a key element that the write is trying to convey. Their style or voice will either enhance or dehance the story..depending on how well the voice speaks to the reader....

POEMS

I have felt that a good poem is like a sweet song that dances in my head. there are times when I constantly hear that delightful melody and it is stuck with me throughout the day. I try, and analyze poems as I do with short stories,or music, In which I find it facinating beyond comprehension.The beauty of critcally reading and analyzing short stories, poems, or music lyrics as well as literature is to exhilerating and helps to identify what the writer or artist is saying. The interpretation can bring out something in you or trgger a pleasant thought pattern perhaps.

PROCRASTINATION: A STUDENTS NIGHTMARE !!!!

Every one has priorities such as family life,children,work,and of course school. We have the tendency to put things off untill the last moment. Our priorities ought to lie within what is most relevant and important gravely. For so many years I have put off important issues and try to do them at other times. Never really getting around to what needed to be done. My message is that now I spend an aweful amount of money on college so it is detrimental to stop putting things off and take care of business.

LATIN LITERATURE: TWO THUMBS UP

Just recently, prior to reading the last two stories of our English assignment did I realize the magnitude of latin American literature.I learned that El Boom which was a dramatic social cultural shift during the 1960's and 70's produced some of the greatest, skillful, and well written literary works by latinos across the globe. It is both fitting ,and well deserve to say that the contribution of the latino community has greatly fall into the category of well named writers of the western civilization...

EQUALITY OR INEQUALITY:That is the question?

Equality is a word that can mean or refer to just about anything in this day and age. for instance back in the 19th century a black person was considered 2/3rds of a person yet our constitution says that all men are created equal...really !!! well even in mathematics their are inequalities. In the political arena today the republicans are being bashed of misusing the inequality of classes and status quo. Understand that Dr. Hamon our professor is not our peer because he has earned the right and title bestowed upon him by the board of which ever Educational institute he attained his degrees. The board of governors and the state recognizes this.Let me be clear however, that the good Doctor is absolute in every way, but not absolved of all things in anyway..

THEME..THEME..THEME..!!!!!

Give me a good theme and I'll give you a good story. Some stories have some spectacular themes, but most people misconstrue a theme with a plot. the plot is more less a summary of the story as oppose to a theme which is much more comprehensive and intuitive. It has a deeper meaning not so much a message or moral indication but a theme will allow you to explore, critically use deductive and inductive reasoning. I like a good theme that is not so obvious, thus a good story....  

TIME!!!!

 Time,the one element we have no control over.Albert Einstein once said " there are two things that are infinite,the Universe and man's stupidity". I believe it is not only foolish and stupid to waste time, but gravely unwise. We have so little time on this earth and we should devote every effort into making the most of it. Furthermore ,I believe that there aren't enough hours in the day to do each and every task I set out to perform, I equally  believe that through preservation and discipline I can accomplish this feat. As a scholar is my duty as well as my responsibility to take advantage of every bit of time dedicated  to my studies.So with that said let us stop procrastinating and get down to business, thus taking time serious...

THE IMPACT OF APA CITATION STYLE !!!

APA or the American Psychological Association is a standard of rules for documenting or referencing sources of your research paper. The beauty of APA citing is that you give creditability to your work,and of course credit to whom you are referencing. Yes, my fellow scholars I cannot stress myself enough as to say how important it is to make sure whether in text citation and or end of paper reference list. Remember if it isnt yours.... give credit to who it belongs to. I always try to keep in mind the more muscle the better paper..!!!  

CHARACTERS:COURAGEOUS OR CORNY?

In literature I am immensely awed by characters , mostly the underdog of the story. Although some people might chose the central character or major. There are different other types of characters that make up a story. As we learned earlier last month you have protagonist,antagonist   ,heroes,anti-heroes, and many more,but my favorite type of character is the stock characters..such as the geeky kid with horned rimed glasses with tape on them,constantly being bullied and rejected by society until they do something usually stereotypical in conjunction to winning the day.Then of course my favorite the super-sleuth detective always solving the crime and leaving his trademark words of wisdom to end the story.Characters help me to understand and escape for a moment into a world where....

What does symbolism mean to me?

Symbols have been incorporated in our society for many,many centuries. Since the beginning of time our earlier civilization have used symbols as a way of communicating. Representing a particular object,person,or even a  place. To me symbols are a direct way of communication either by visual ,sounds, objects,not to mention hand gestures. I wear a peace sign around my neck and have done so for the last 7 years. the gold platinum symbol of peace has the words engraved in them love, hope, and peace which mean to me our struggle in life.

South University: A Diverse School

South University is undoubtedly a diverse school. I am fascinated by the different cultures that make up this great institution. I believe in engaging in conversations to understand and marvel at some of the stories that my fellow scholars bequeath upon me. As I roam the hallways I am confronted with nationalities from almost every walk of life. Philippines, Italian, Brazil, Latino, Haitian, Jamaican, finland, and many more....It is to these ends that make south university one of the most diverse schools in the great state of Florida..".GO SOUTH .U"!!!!!  

LOVINING LITERATURE

In a time where American literature is both appreciative and not appreciative one can only assume its true beauty to be be great. I have learned that in the past few days listening and reading some of the blogs by my fellow students that this class has stimulated them as well as become increasingly fun. Truly Professor Hamon has spearheaded the charge and thrusted us into another world of English 1300. We the class have made the most of our literary work by breaking up into group discussion, meeting on the outside, and of course blogging about our new horizons. This class motivates, stimulates,and investigate our abilities to the highest potential.

Recycle,Reduce,Re-use "OH MY" !!

We live in a society that has become more conscience of the way we eliminate our waste. This was not so years ago, when streets littered with trash,lakes and streams infested with plastics and old tires. How many times have we seen electronics,such as tv's,cell phones, outdated playstations thrown into trash bins with other cardboard, paper, and aluminum cans. Well, my fellow scholars it is time to make a stand or rather a fuss. This approach of recycle,reduce, or re-use is being practiced  in countries like canada, germany,and Japan who acually leads the world in recycling. It doesnt take much so let us keep our communty clean.....Recycle, Reduce and, or Re-Use.!!!

America.... A happy home?

We have the tendency to complain and criticize our Government , yet how many of you have been to other countries where either dictatorships,or the people have been repressed, and endure endless oppresion. We can only imagine the hardships they go through which makes us appreciate this country much more. I have seen many different countries and unless you actually intergrate and have compassion for your fellow man and women then life is not worth a hill of beans. My love for the United States is overwhelming great in that I understand the liberty, freedom, and most of all lifes greatest gift love. Yes, my fellow scholars I know there are some things that our Government lack. The system is flawed without a shadow of doubt, nonetheless there are still beauties provided by this great nation.

What is a Protagonist?

since the beginning of time mankind have been fascinated with stories ,poems, plays, and now television that depict the epic battle between Good vs. Evil, Sinner vs. Saint, Hero vs. Villain and in this case Protagonist vs. Antagonist. Do we really know what a protagonist is? In my opinion a protagonist is the main or central character as seen through the eyes of the writer and is enthralled by the reader. Although the protagonist sometimes isn't as clear as night and day, or as simple as black and white it's the style of the writer that leaves us guessing or intrigued. The protagonist nonetheless is the epitome of what true justice, and liberty stands for. I am convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that a protagonist is however the writer chooses him/her to somehow fit the story, and capture the essence of their audience/reader by any means necessary. Whatever the subliminal undertone may be the protagonist can capture a reader’s sympathy, or empathy in their constant conflict. They strive to overcome each, and every obstacle of negative forces bound and destined to destroy their vision of whatever radiant, rational, or reckless doctrine they stand for. Once again I firmly believe it is the protagonist duty to come out victorious for the sake of all.
